Salt is born of the purest parents: the Sun and the Sea.’
As you enter the Halotherapy Salt Lounge, you step into a relaxing beach vacation… With 1650 pounds of crushed salt ‘sand’ under your feet you choose your ideal lounging spot. Whether sitting on the crushed salt floor, leaned against a bolster, surrounded by salt; or selecting a cushioned beach lounger for a more authentic seaside feel... you begin to drift into that serene, blissful vacation feeling. You breathe deeply, noticing the quality of the salt filled air that your lungs seem to crave. As the salt air enters your nose, sinuses, throat, lungs and rests on your skin, the magic begins. Respiratory health improves, lung capacity expands, allergens and pathogens flee and you breathe deeply, relaxing, repairing and protecting through every inhalation. Ahhhhhhh!
Halo, the Greek word for Salt, is the foundation for Halotherapy, or salt therapy. In 1843 it was discovered by a Polish physician that salt miners were not experiencing the same respiratory diseases and ailments as the general population. Originally termed Speleotherapy, as it could only be obtained underground in salt caves and mines, doctors and scientists developed a Halogenerator to recreate the micro-climate of these salt caves above ground.
It is highly absorbent, acting like a sponge and attracting foreign substances throughout the respiratory tract. It ‘sweeps’ and cleans the respiratory system, removing secretions and stimulating the self cleaning mechanisms of the lungs. Dry salt also attracts moisture, loosening mucus and allowing for easy expectoration, or coughing it out.
Salt is also anti-microbial, creating an inhospitable environment in the mouth, nose, sinuses, throat, lungs and skin for allergens, bacteria and other pathogens that can lead to respiratory illness or allergic reactions.
Dry salt is also anti-inflammatory to the respiratory tract and can widen airways. Improving lung function, oxygen intake, increasing energy levels and encouraging optimal immune function.
The depth of penetration into the airways is largely determined by particle size, as the smaller the particles, the further into the respiratory tract the salt can navigate, all the way to the bronchioles and alveoli.
You’ll spend 45 minutes in your beach vacation bliss, while our halogenerator exposes you to pure grade 99.99% sodium chloride, kinetically activated dry salt in micro-sized particles (2 microns - the human hair is only 8 microns!) for deep inhalation, aiding in anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, decongestant and immune stimulating effects. It increases respiration and oxygen flow, while decreasing phlegm and edema.

REGULARITY OF USE:
Many use halotherapy 2-3 times weekly for three to four weeks during cold and allergy seasons. Others find twice weekly use for several months can best benefit more chronic respiratory concerns. Still some use it preventatively for immune support, stress relief or a vacation getaway from the stresses of everyday life.
There are no known contraindications and halotherapy is very well tolerated. However, we do not recommend this modality for someone with active tuberculosis, contagious conditions, acute conditions or fever, open wounds or sores, cardiac insufficiency or late stage lung cancer.
